Occupy Earth Day!

Occupy Kenai Soldotna will have a booth at Earth Day, which will be held from 2pm-9pm on Thursday, April 19 at the Kenai River Campus of the Kenai Peninsula College, located at 156 College Road off East Poppy on K-Beach.

If you're interested in helping out at the booth, send us an e-mail. Otherwise, feel free to stop by and ask questions about your local friendly Occupy group.

Next Protest and General Assembly meeting scheduled

There will be a protest Saturday, March 31 at 1 p.m. at the Y intersection (Kenai Spur/Sterling Hwy) in Soldotna.

Following the protest, there will be a General Assembly meeting at 2 p.m. at Kaladi's Conference Room (the Kaladi's in the Safeway parking lot). Bring a sign and dress for the weather.

Show your support!

_ There are two bills regarding getting corporate money out of politics that are currently going through the Alaska Legislature:
  1. HB 244: "An act providing that for-profit corporations and limited liability companies organized in this state are not persons for purposes of influencing the outcomes of public office elections, initiatives, referendums, or recalls."
  2. HJR 33: Urging the U.S. Congress and the President of the U.S. to work to amend the Constitution to prohibit corporations, unions, and individuals from making unlimited independent expenditures supporting or opposing candidates for public office.
Both bills are currently in the Alaska House Affairs Committee and could use your support. Show your support by contacting committee members and telling them that this is a good bill for the People of Alaska. Contact:
